Dear Ridgepoint families,

I have encouraging news!  TRUSD is planning for a gradual return to in-person learning, and we need to know your choice of school program to best prepare.  TRUSD families have two choices: 1) your children may continue in a distance learning model, or 2) your children will return to in-person learning, which under current county health guidelines would be a hybrid model.

As you consider your options, make note of the potential program changes that may occur should you choose to stay in the distance learning model:

  •       Your child’s teacher may change.  Every attempt will be made to minimize this change.

  •       If you commit to this option, we ask that you commit until the end of the school year.

  •       Daily schedules, including times associated with synchronous (Zoom) instruction and asynchronous (independent) instruction may change.

If you have decided that your preference is for your children to continue in the distance learning model, please let us know by filling out the survey linked below no later than October 9th.  NOTE: You should fill out 1 form for each child you wish to continue in distance learning.

If your preference is for your children to return to school in a hybrid model, please fill out the survey linked below to say which model is the best fit for your child:

Whatever you choose, our Ridgepoint staff and community are here to support you, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Respectfully,

Mr. Pope

Hello Ridgepoint Families,

I hope you’re doing well and you’re getting ready for the start of a very unique school year!  As you know, we will be distributing students’ textbooks and materials tomorrow, August 10, and Tuesday, August 11 from 8:00 – 2:30 pm.  We’re organizing the distribution by the first letter of your youngest child’s last name and by grade level.  You can find the schedule in the post below..

It is important that you get your child’s materials during the next two days so you’re prepared for the first day of school on Tuesday, August 18 at 8:00 am.  If you have any questions about connecting with us to begin the school year, please contact the school office at (916) 566-1950.

Let’s be completely clear and open…  It is an understatement to say this year will be unique.  I’m confident nobody in our community has experienced a school opening like the one we will experience the week after next.  But I have good news…  The staff at Ridgepoint is prepared to deliver the best distance learning program possible for your children.  We want to do better than survive the challenges of this dynamic; we want to thrive and grow as educators and we want your children to thrive.  For all of us at Ridgepoint School, we’re looking forward to an amazing year of learning.  See you tomorrow or Tuesday.

Take care and talk soon!

Respectfully,
Mr. Pope

Hello Ridgepoint Families!

We will be distributing curriculum and materials for the upcoming school year on August 10 and August 11.  We will distribute materials in a drive-through process.  Walk-ups are also welcome.  Your pick-up appointment is determined by two things:

  • Your child’s grade level
We are strongly encouraging you to come during the following days and times.  Depending on the number of children in your family, this process will take between 5 - 10 minutes.  If you are new to Twin Rivers or have a child in kindergarten, this process will take 15 - 20 minutes.

How to retrieve your students’ materials:
  • Determine the day of your appointment, based on your youngest child’s last name.
  • Determine the time of your appointment based on your child’s grade level using the chart above.
  • On your appointed day and time, drive to the Ridgepoint parking lot entrance.
  • Check-in with the Ridgepoint staff at the Check-in Station #1.
  • Next, drive to the Pick-up Stations #2 in the front of the school.
  • Ridgepoint staff will bring your child’s materials to your car.
  • If you are a returning student who already has a TRUSD chromebook, you may exit the parking lot by the Monument-Galbrath exit.
  • If you are new to Twin Rivers or have a kindergarten student, drive to the side parking lot on the side of the school (Station #3) to complete a lunch form and get a chromebook. You will then exit the parking lot on Galbrath by the Beanstalk preschool.

Tips for Easy Pick-up:

  • You will be receiving a large amount of material!  If you are driving, you'll need room in your vehicle.  If you are walking, consider bringing a cart or wagon.

  • Note the estimated times for pick-up.  Plan to be in this process 5-20 minutes depending on the size of your family and whether you are filling out a lunch form and getting a chromebook.

  • If you are filling out a lunch form, you will need a black pen.  We will have pens available and will clean them between uses.  Nonetheless, as an extra precaution, you may want to bring your own.  You will be filling the form out in your car.  You will want to have a flat, hard surface upon which to write.

  • We cannot distribute your child's curriculum if your enrollment packet is not complete.  The most common reason a packet is not complete is due to missing immunization records.  The most common grade levels that are missing immunization records are kindergarten and 7th grade.  If you want to verify that your immunization records are on file, please call the school at (916) 566-1950.

Hello Parents, Guardians, and School Community,

I have two important updates to help you prepare for the upcoming school year.

As you know, we will begin the coming school year with a 100% at-home Distance Learning model.  This year, we will be distributing textbooks and instructional materials for your use at home to strengthen our Distance Learning program.  This will occur on August 10 and August 11 – Please save the dates!  We are developing a plan to distribute these materials safely and efficiently.  We will communicate the plan as soon as possible on our website.

Secondly, TRUSD is conducting a parent survey (English, Spanish, Hmong) about our eventual transition to an in-person instructional model when health and safety conditions will allow it.  Please click the links in parantheses or see the TRUSD Twitter feed at the bottom of the district website home page.  TRUSD leaders are using your feedback for planning - please chime in!

I will continue to share updates as they occur.  Until next time, stay safe, healthy, and happy!

Respectfully,
Mr. Pope

Hello Ridgepoint Families and School Community,

I hope you are enjoying a relaxing, fun summer, and I hope you, your friends, and your family are safe and healthy!

Yesterday, our Superintendent, Dr. Martinez and the Superintendent of the Sacramento County Office of Education announced that all Sacramento school districts would open the school year with 100% Distance Learning.  This decision was based on the latest public health information showing increasingly high coronavirus infection rates in our county.  Obviously, the health and safety of students, staff, and families is the top priority.  Twin Rivers will continue developing plans to make distance learning and the eventual return to school as safe as possible and as educationally effective as possible.  We will continue to monitor the health and safety conditions in our community to make decisions about our 2020-2021 program in the months ahead.  I’ll keep you as informed as possible about how all of this specifically affects our Ridgepoint School Community.  Beginning with this message, I will send you a weekly message with any updates and announcements through the rest of the summer and into the fall.

Our first day of school is still Tuesday, August 18!  During the next few weeks you can expect to receive information about how to get ready.  You will get this information from the district office, and you will get this information from me.  I’ll tell you who your child’s new teacher is, how and when to pick up materials, how to use our new online parent portal for communication, how and when to pick up a chromebook, how and when to pick up last year's yearbooks (we haven't forgotten about that!) and more.  I will send phone messages, update this page on our web site, and send messages to you on our school’s ReMind App.

Again, I hope you’re well and I look forward to seeing you as soon as possible.  Please stay safe, healthy and happy!

Respectfully,
Will Pope
